Okan wood (Cylicodiscus gabunensis) is a very durable, dense hardwood from West Africa, known for its golden to reddish-brown colour and exceptional strength, making it ideal for heavy-duty outdoor and marine applications like bridges, railway sleepers, docks, and structural supports, resistant to decay and insects, though it can be challenging to machine due to its interlocked grain it makes wonderfully patterned and coloured pens. Not often found in wooden pens. This pen is protected with a hard-wearing melamine sealant and a final coat of polished wax, this pen feels incredibly smooth in the hand and resists everyday wear.
